How on earth is it the end of November already? While the last 10 days or so I have been feeling super festive, that might have had something to do with doing the first Disney Xmas party of the season on 9th November, I’m still feeling seriously unprepared.
My Xmas list keeps changing, I want to do a sort of “minimalist” one this year in the sense that I want to adopt the
“something you want, something you need, something to wear & something to read”
for this year. So not lots of stuff cluttering up, stuff that will be eaten/used up/useful, the something to read will be a book on my kindle to avoid adding to the already overflowing book case, but for the hubster his something to read will probably be a DVD, until as such time we get something like an Apple TV to store movies on 😉 lol.
So my beloved bath products are OK as they will be used up, and when hubby has bought me Dove sets in the past it has saved my buying any body washes for a while & saves on the old grocery bill, so that’s a winner too. My something to wear will be a pair of slippers that I could do with. Funnily enough my problem is thinking of my want & need.
I am mostly looking forward to the atmosphere & spending time with family & catching up on scrapbooking projects as I will have time at hometo do things other than my usual task of chores!
On Saturday we had a great day at my cousin’s wedding 🙂 It was good to see family, and then quite a few people who I hadn’t seen in years!
Leanne, my other cousin and sister of the groom, looked fab!
We had a disposable camera on the table and I shot a few, mum shot some and my uncle snapped a few pics too. He grabbed me up on the dancefloor, and I have another shot of me and my other uncle (father of the groom) which I still need to take off the camera lol.
The tables looked stunning too. I was teased over the cupcakes, I ended up having 1 and a half, they were soooooo good!
And I love this one of nan! “Cheese!”
Leanne also got a rare photo of us together. I went a little bit hipstamatic nuts that day, and then I continued well past the weekend and into this week. I will share some of those snaps for next week 😉 I seriously need a new iPhone than my 3GS, and a hipstamatic case *drools* That’s my goal at the moment, I was going to wait until november to get a new phone but for the sake of my iphoneography, I am undecided :
I also want to apologise as people have been leaving comments via facebook but my dashboard widget wasn’t showing any, it was only by chance I clicked on a link back to facebook which showed a list of them! So I shall keep an eye on them that way, but thank you everyone I didn’t realise!
We have my cousin’s daughter’s Christening coming up soon so I made this from the Silhouette Store. They have such lovely stuff there!
I also had fun chatting with Lauren today. She came and sat on Nan’s lap and I snapped this picture:
It was overcast today and I had my kit lens on my camera like a numpty. I really should check it before I leave the house. I was hoping to catch Erin today, but she didn’t go to nan’s today. Still, I get lots of photos very soon 🙂 And of course, the best Nephew in the world, Oliver! With cute haircut from mummy and daddy.
She’s so cute!
Ahhh. quality time with the kiddos 🙂 We were lucky they were all with us but that also kinda meant there was a bit of chaos lol! I was here there and everywhere with them. Much treasured and very rare time with my god daughter Emily reading, a book about summer how lovely 😀
Lauren is getting big already too! Here she is saying cheese to me 🙂
and her Sparkly shoes!
Liam kept himself to himself for a little while, colouring in
and Morgan drew a picture
Kenzie came with his tunnel
and then soon after all the kiddos were playing!
the funniest thing was Liam had to go, so Kenz had to let him have a quick go in the tunnel… and quick was the word, as soon after Liam had gone into it, Kenzie climbed in there with him lol!
Mum was also sat in Gramp’s chair, giving Felix lots of fuss. Her hair is growing back now and she’s much happier now it’s not in knots.
I feel so bad about not keeping up with everyone’s blogs 😦 I’ve had a lot to deal with myself.
The service was beautiful, so many people turned up that they couldn’t all fit in. Nan had about 100 sympathy cards as well, and I spent the entire time sat holding on to Gareth for support. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the church. The service was so great as the lady taking it knew gramp well as he went to church every Sunday. The only person in our family to go, actually. She said how they could have done with him that day as he was the one who put the chairs out lol, but the thing that really made me cry – mostly tears of joy, was when she held up the service sheet and it was a photo I took of gramp on the cover and she said how wonderful it was and that it captured Grampy Sid beautifully.
From there we went to the Crematorium… this part was for family and very close friends only so there was only a few of us there so it helped us to grieve more privately. They had the curtains open for us to go up and touch the coffin and leave so we could say our goodbyes. I held on to Gareth so tightly because the whole scene was just so upsetting. My manly cousins and my tough brother, were sobbing their eyes out. My mum with my dad (who was also crying), she just collapsed on to the coffin, wailing. Grampy Sid was very much a father to her, she left home very young to live with my dad, nan and gramp. They went on holidays together and they had this amusing relationship where they would tease each other, and it tore her to pieces to have to say goodbye. The wake was just a short event for me, as by 3pm I was so exhausted emotionally I had to go home. That’s when I got back and Gareth made me a hot chocolate, got my PJs and the duvet and tucked me in on the sofa and I was out like a light. He’s so good to me.
Last Sunday we had to say goodbye once again as we buried the ashes. It was a miserable raining day, but my family all turned up to church after the service. We all had the opportunity to say a little something but I kept quiet. What I would have said was I’ll miss him calling me David Bailey, and asking us if we’re alright before telling us he’ll soon sort it out lol. I’ll miss doing the crossword with him on a Saturday, the sausages he always cooked for the table and how he slaved away cooking them just for us while he chuckled. We all helped putting the dirt back on by shovelling a little back in the hole
In fact, it still hasn’t sunk in to my head, I keep forgetting dispite having said goodbye to him and all. I walked to nan’s house today with mum (as it was nice) and when I walked through the door we go in the side door into the dining room and I went straight towards the living room to say hello, expecting him to be in the chair and he wasn’t. Friday afternoons and Saturdays are going to be hard for a long time. My Saturdays at my nan’s are everything to me. If I don’t go, my whole weekend is thrown into disarray.
I also have a sewing machine. Hopefully I will be able to start sewing some awesome stuff.
and even more exciting, I have my wedding shoes… Although that’s about as far as we’ve got lol
At my nan’s house yesterday, she was going through the photos of Lauren’s Christening. I had put all the photos on to CD for my Aunt who went to Asda and got some prints for nan 🙂 Lauren had some professional shots done (which looked so cute btw!) and my Aunt had been discussing just how much these prints were! £18 for a print that would cost pence if you got them developed yourself… I said this is how the photographers make their money! I’m guessing the photographers might have had a small fee if not done it for free, to photograph the children around our hometown at the local paper… They are running a baby competition as they always do – only to enter you must have a photo done by the photographer – you cannot enter your own. That’s when they charge the parents such high fees for prints, as that’s where they make their money.
Anywho, back to my point.
So my nan was completely gushing over my photos. I just love taking them, and I do my best, and ultimately it’s all headed for the designated scrapbooks anyway – so in this case the photos were going to end up in Lauren’s album. But it was what she was saying about the photos that made me get a little choked up lol. She held up a photo of Leanne and said: “This looks like a professional took it!” and continued to go on about how wonderful the shots were.
And speaking of photography, I got these shots from Claire’s mum – which other than the group photo I took at the end on timer and did a mad dash to get in the photo & the one my dad took of me, Claire and Stewart – proves I was there lol!
Thought this was appropriate at the moment:
Nan is still poorly, she’s got to go back to the hospital to have the fluid around her heart removed.
Yup, brownie points for me… getting both assignments done on the first day!
I managed to drive (barely) to the doctors this afternoon. Asked him questions about the coughing up and the pain which I still have. He said the pain is just the inflammation by my lungs and that’s what’s causing that and it will go eventually and that the main thing is as long as I can cough up when I have to as that’s the main thing right now to fully recover without too much pain. I just have to take some pain killers and it shouldn’t be too bad.
Also I asked if I was allowed back to work next week and he said as long as I was up to it I could, but he couldn’t stress enough that I had to take it STEADY, just take it slowly.
G bought me a £1 cyber pet from Woolworths yesterday to help with the boredom… I managed to kill in it less than 12 hours… whoops!
A local scrapper, who as it appears I met some years ago but briefly as I was leaving the crop as she was coming lol, is wanting to sell her Studio Calico kit… Luckily for me I subscribed to the thread at UKS as I’ve been drooling over these kits for ages and I’m wanting to subscribe next year, and she mentioned that she didn’t like this months kit, so I was right in there lol. Even luckier she’s a Gloucestershire gal too and seeing as G said he would take me to Paperarts tomorrow, I’m meeting up with her there and I’m buying her kit from her cheap woo-hoo!
I’m lurking around at twopeas today (G is working late) as they’re doing classes and chats. I had to go to town so I jumped on the bus to go to the doctors this morning, and I said to the bus driver: “return from town please” and he suggested I get a day rider for £2.80 as it was £1.50 each way. Each way? But I was asking for a return, it made no sense, so i bought the day rider. Once I finished at the doctors and paid the bizarre 11p gas bill (why didn’t they carry it over to the next bill? Really?) I jumped back on the bus and as I had bought a day rider ticket I figured I was going to make use of it and my nan’s house is on the way home and she had got out of hospital herself on Wednesday, so I got off the bus and sat with her for about an hour, jumped back on the bus and went home.
But man, when I got home. My poor pain in my ribs… I had to lay down for ages until I was feeling a little better, and then had a nice hot shower and washed my hair (the shower is good for me because of the steam), and now I’m on the computer 🙂
My layouts from Cathy’s class for this week – just one more layout, the “Real World Colour” layout to go. This week, the class syllabus is SYMMETRY… We get slideshow presentations, handouts and stuff, so funny and cool 🙂
Have also just found out my nan is in hospital having tests done 😦
Emily at nan’s looking up at me by the door.
She also has the cutest “royal wave” – just like the Queen lol!
Lauren: “Oh no – it’s that crazy lady again, with a camera for a face!”
and to share some stuff I’m loving right now:
Unphotographable. A fantastic idea, especially for scrapbookers simply because you cannot take a photo of everything – but just because of this doesn’t mean a great moment or event needs to be forgotten just because there is no photo.
Pinkpaislee. I’ve been following Holly McCaig for quite sometime, and even went through a phase where I only purchased Holly’s digital kits. I absolutely love her work – from her digital kits to her photography, and when I saw she was doing actual paper products I saved and waited and this week I finally got her Office Lingo line… and I adore it. Can’t wait to scrap!
Two Peas Creating Garden. Love love love. Full of inspiration. And I just can’t help but drool over the mini books section. Because I am a sucker for minibooks.
Bento. Yes I am a fussy eater, but I’m loving the idea. Cute looking, healthy packed lunchboxes. I’ve added the EAT MY BENTO LJ community to my bloglines so I can catch up on stuff, and although cookingcute.com hasn’t been updated in a while is still so worthwhile checking out. I’m currently browsing the blueberryland store thinking how awesome it would be to have a cute bento box 🙂 Maybe someday soon.
