Autumn is here

Hmm, I’ve not been a big fan of Autumn. Ever. Well sometimes with the back to school stuff and getting new stationary and clothes etc, but otherwise not really. I’ve always been a summer girl myself.  But Gareth gets the Next catalogue, and I can’t help but flick through it and sigh, thinking of getting some cute new outfits now the weather is chilly and the leaves are changing colour.  I even baked:

White choc chip cookies, which got the Gareth seal of approval. When I asked him if he liked them after he ate one, his reply was: “I’d like them even more if there was another one in my mouth…”

Even reading through my September issue of Creating Keepsakes, I stopped at the lovely red and brown coloured shoes at the “Hot fall trends (Let fashion trends inspire your creativity)” and have since left it on that page.  Now I’ve downloaded a freebie autumn kit and I plan on making a cute little “ode to autumn” mini book to place on my mini easel, once I’ve finished my Cathy class 🙂

bad blogger

I’ve been terrible, I know. I took photos to share on the blog but never got round to it.  Currently I’m sat in the front room while Gaz is sleeping in the bedroom. I’ve been whispering on the phone to my mum as there is still no news on the baby yet.  My sister in law’s due date was Thursday, they took her in yesterday at 11am because of high blood pressure, and the poor thing is still going. They’re checking on her at 8.30am.  I still Tweet, so check the sidebar and follow me for the best chance of any latest news 🙂  I have unlimited texts on my phone so I tweet as and when which is a lot more often than my blogging! lol!  I’m currently wondering which will arrive first – my Studio Calico kit or the baby 🙂  My kit was shipped Wednesday last week and I generally get it about 7 days later, so I suppose at the moment it could be either!

Sims has sucked me right in, I’ve started my legacy family, which is another thing I’ve been meaning to share.  Jamie Hart is back 🙂  It’s funny to be “seeing” this character again after he was my starter sim for my legacy on Sims 2.  I will share more info. I will, but once the baby is born there will be lots of cooing and photos to keep my attention for a bit before I’m back.

And as for camping – the photos I wanted to share lol! Well, we will be going to my parents (that’s me and Gareth going)  as we’re putting the tent up in my brother’s garden while he’s not there. I have to be there at 10.30, but this proves an issue – as that’s when the post comes and I don’t want to miss it in case my kit arrives. Then, this afternoon is manic as I have to get into town after nan’s house pay a bill and other boring stuff and hope that I don’t miss anything baby-wise but after that everything is hunky dory.

I can’t wait to show off some newborn photos though 😉

Writing bug

I remember when I was 14, I sat down and I wrote a 400 page story, which (if I do say so myself) I quite enjoyed, but I’m biased 😉 and that story will never see the light of day because it was pretty much Hanson Fanfic.  My current story is a bit of an odd thing for me to talk about really, but it’s a story I want to tell. I recall it all fondly to anyone who will listen.

Now it’s about an old crush of mine from back in the day, a guy I consider one of my best friends still to this day although we don’t get to chat half as much anymore because life has pretty much got in the way.  Looking at it, it may be a little weird to be writing it, but a thing I really want to do this year is to hold a book that I have written in my hands in its published form 🙂 And what better thing to write about than personal experience. I will post draft chapters as and when, and hope that anyone who reads it enjoys it.

Speaking of crushes, the hottest guy in the world cooked us a yummy dinner tonight 🙂  Here he is playing WoW:

and the face he usually pulls when he knows I have the camera in hand:

and the cutest texts lol  “baby looney pants” 😀

Torrential rain!

I sort of wished we didn’t take the minor detour to the sorting office to go pick up my studio calico kit. There was a thunder storm which had just started, and once I got came out of the building with my box, it was pouring.  But once at Tesco it was hailing as well.  Gareth ran off , and I opened the door and it was like drowning – I opened my mouth to call to G but I was just gargling water. The rain was coming down so much, I was completely soaked through within seconds and I couldn’t move, I couldn’t see, the rain was just coming down so heavy and so fast!  I felt like I had just jumped into a pool I was so wet.  I just couldn’t wait to get home, and once I did I just had to take everything off and stick my dressing gown on.  It was horrible!

and I will leave you this gem from bed the other night:
G: Kirsty
K: I’m sleeping
G: but Kirsty…
K: I’m sleeping
G: But can you get me a drink?
K: *fake snoring*
G: That’s not funny.

Gareth and I had been trying to decide what to do together. Something that we could get a bit of exercise, and spend some quality time out and about – not on our butts at home playing on the computer!

So I heard about geocaching, looked into it, and we decided that’s what we’d do 🙂  Gareth got the app for his phone, and we went out this morning.

The first geocache we went to find is local, but the hilarious thing is, it wasn’t what I was expecting.  That’s why we ended up walking to another one instead, and by chance I found it and then realised that it was a tiny thing we were looking for and so went back to the first one as we pretty much went by it to go back home anyway.

How small?  This small – this is the log book that rolls up inside:
Unscrolling a cache

Here’s the phone on which we were navigating:
Geocaching app for iPhone

We had walked quite a way, so we rested at home for a bit while I potted some plants in the hanging basket, and then I just had to go out again and search for a few more, with Gareth in tow… and this time we found 2 more slightly larger ones:

And I left some moo stickers and a card in this one, and in the other just a moo card:

Awww, 1984…

Me and mum camping {84}

and our lush tent:

And then there’s 1997:

and our itty bitty tent:

Our tent

So what’s up with the nostalgia?  I want to go camping and have been taken over by camping fever lol! Poor Gareth got dragged around Attwools this afternoon (practically kicking and screaming) and we found a cute tent… but we’re awaiting the brouchers for a few of the camp sites we’ve (read: I’ve) been looking at before we start thinking about that.  It’s been so long since I’ve been camping, after that camping trip dad got a lush 6 berth tent (sadly, no photos from that trip!) but since gave it to my Uncle Mark so he could work on his car if it was raining.

But for me, the tent (Khyam Chatsworth) would be worth the investment if we would do it as a regular thing. Going abroad is expensive… Staying in a static caravan or a lodge etc is still expensive… Camping has to be the way to go… Ok, ok, so the British weather is absolute cack, but that’s why we were looking for a tent with a decent sized living space.

The coolest thing I saw in the shop though was a camping bunk bed! LOL! Seriously it looked so cool.

As for the fact there are lots of past entries means I finally figured out how to transfer it over (only I had far too much for my 2MB upload limit!)

Loving the soundtrack

Rascal Flatts – Bless the Broken Road

I set out on a narrow way
Many years ago
Hoping I would find true love
Along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushin’ through
I couldn’t see how every sign
Pointed straight to you
That every long lost dream
Led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart
They were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way
Into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
I think about the years I spent
Just passin’ through
I’d like to have the time I lost
And give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You’ve been there, you understand
It’s all part of a grander plan
That is comin’ true
Now I’m just rolling home
Into my lover’s arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

Such a pretty song 🙂 I’ve been sat listening to the Hannah Montana Soundtrack all week. Even been sat listening to it at work during the afternoons… and seeing as I’ve been quiet whilst listening no one had any quarrels lol. I played it to G and I’ve kinda adopted this song as “our” song 🙂  I really love the song “Spotlight” as well. That’s a Hannah song, which I thought was odd, it seemed more of a Miley song than a Hannah song.  Finished the book on Monday, and that’s because I only read a little on Sunday as I knew I’d finish it and I’d have nothing to read during lunch at work.

Hurrah for Easter break! Off to Cardiff tomorrow – we have easter eggs for G’s bros, otherwise just a weekend of spring cleaning and hopefully a random trip to Attwools lol. I just love wandering around the camping stuff.

How wonderful! My studio calico kit arrived today. Me and G went and picked it up from Royal Mail on the way to do our shopping. I seriously love it!

I really love Two Peas too. They have a classroom up nd I hope to do a little bit of each class. Shimelle’s also doing a free class too, and not forgetting UKScrappers have their Whodunnit cybercrop in February. Go team FBI! (Would have preferred CSI, but hey, you get assigned teams so it’s tough)

I made a cute little book as well. I will show it off soon 🙂

I was lucky and was on my own on Xmas eve… I forgot the iPod, but I had my mobile phone and headphones and I sat and listened to Radio 1 while I did my work. It was awesome listening to the festive songs, and heard a reading of The Grinch.
Once it turned 12, I was out of there.

Christmas day we woke up. Opened some presents because we just couldn’t wait til we got to my parents house lol

Part of the Christmas haul :)

Then I had one big box left over, but of course I’m used to my dad’s wrapping and that presents are always hidden, so I opened the big box to find a box of match makers. Then proceeded to quickly dig further where I found a ring box… which was way to fast lol. Poor Gareth was unprepared for me to find it so fast lol. So he asked: Will you marry me?

The ring

From there it was to my nan and gramp’s house, as gramp had just got out of hospital Xmas Eve. Then to G’s parents for dinner and to his Aunt’s house for fun and merriment.

Random conversation…

… Just a little gem from bed last night. We were discussing Christmas presents, and I was thinking about some PJ bottoms for G so asked him what he thought of “Black & White”. Sadly, yes I’m generally vague and jump into a conversation I’ve already been thinking about in my head, so no one knows what I’m on about.

“Black and White what?” He asked. “Y’see I’m not to keen on Black and White TV, but I don’t mind Zebras…”
